About The Opportunity
Index

What is the Opportunity Index?

Opportunity Index is a student-built interview series created to make civic, economic, and institutional literacy more accessible to young people.

Through long-form conversations with policymakers, investors, entrepreneurs, and other decision-makers, we examine how influence actually works, how constraints, and trade-offs shape outcomes that students live with every day. The goal isn’t to promote a viewpoint; it’s to improve understanding. We focus on rigorous questions, real-world context, and clarity over commentary.

What we publish

  • Full episodes featuring long-form interviews

  • Highlights capturing key moments and ideas

  • Show notes and reflections that summarize takeaways, quotes, and links

  • Topic coverage including economics, leadership, institutions, and financial literacy

Principles

Opportunity Index is independent and nonpartisan. We don’t endorse candidates or parties. We aim to represent ideas fairly, ask strong follow-up questions, and separate analysis from advocacy, so students can engage thoughtfully and form their own conclusions.

Why this matters

Opportunity is often discussed as a personal trait, but it is also shaped by systems: education, regulation, capital, and the incentives that guide decision-makers. Students rarely get direct access to the people and frameworks behind those systems. Opportunity Index exists to close that gap by offering transparent, student-centered conversations that treat young audiences as capable of serious thought.
